Hello! I'm Dr. Sheryl Richard. You can call me Sheryl. I know firsthand what it means to carry promises and uncertainty at the same time. As a teenager becoming a mother, Sheryl learned how fragile hope can feel and how powerful faith, hope, love, and perseverance can become.
Pregnant Teen to PhD is not a story of perfection or ease. It is a story of progress and becoming. Through moments of doubt, resilience, grace, and growth, Sheryl’s journey reflects the truth that our beginnings do not define us or our endings.
Today, Sheryl serves as a servant-hearted leader, educator, and coach who blends research, lived experience, and compassionate care in the field of health and well-being. She holds a PhD in Health Services and brings over three decades of experience across higher education, government, consulting, private practice, and community engagement. Yet, her most meaningful and joyful work continues to be with being a mom and grandmom and walking alongside others as they discover their own strength, worth, purpose, and resilience. She is grateful for the love and support of her family and friends throughout her journey.
Guided by faith, hope, and love, Sheryl believes that healing happens when we are brave enough to be our authentic selves. This memoir is her invitation to “Bring all of who you are into all of what you do.”
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
